While on a camping trip in Stanislaus National forest (just North West of Yosemite), my family and I saw what appeared to be an enormous meteor burning across the sky, heading North. It left our field of vision at the horizon, with no sign of being even close to burning out. Can anyone verify and or give me details on this? Can anyone give me a URL for a central list of astronomical events such as this that I could look at (if one such thing even exists in the public domain)? Thanks for your time.
