The former employes a rigid, posed style reminiscent of early 20th Century photographic portraiture. And transmits a powerful message, heightened by his ironic use of a simplistic technique and repetitive imagery, ranging from the Chinese population limitation ban on more than single child families to attempts to establishing an artistic identity.
